Fusion Insurance Advisory Inc. ("Fusion," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have.

We handle personal information in accordance with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

1. Who we are

Fusion Insurance Advisory Inc. is an independent insurance and benefits practice based in Sherwood Park, Alberta.

Privacy Officer: Brett Wackenhut Address: 150 Chippewa Rd Unit 140, Sherwood Park, AB T8A 6A2 Phone: (587) 926-8399 Email: brett@fusioninsadv.com

Direct any question, access request, or complaint about your personal information to the Privacy Officer at the contact information above.

2. What information we collect

When you visit our website. IP address, browser type and version, device type, pages viewed, time spent, referring website, and general geographic location. This is collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies.

When you submit a form, request a quote, or book a meeting. Your name, email address, phone number, city or town, and any information you choose to include in a message. Depending on the form, we may also ask about your mortgage renewal timing, whether you own a business, or the type of coverage you are interested in.

When you become a client or apply for coverage. To place insurance we collect information necessary for underwriting and administration. Depending on the product, this may include your date of birth, address, occupation, income, financial and beneficiary information, government identification, banking information for premium payment, and personal health information including medical history, medications, family medical history, and lifestyle information.

For group benefits clients. Business information including employee census data, existing plan details, claims experience, and renewal information.

We collect only what we need for the purposes described below.

3. Why we collect it

  • To respond to your inquiry and provide the information you requested
  • To contact you by phone, text, or email about your request
  • To prepare quotes and illustrations
  • To submit applications to insurers and administer coverage
  • To service your policies, including claims, changes, and renewals
  • To meet our legal, regulatory, and licensing obligations
  • To improve our website and understand how it is used
  • To send you information about our services, where you have consented

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, trade, or share it for another organization's marketing purposes.

4. Consent

We collect, use, and disclose your personal information with your consent, except where the law permits or requires otherwise.

By submitting a form on this website, you consent to us contacting you by phone, text, or email about your request.

Where we collect sensitive information, such as health information for an insurance application, we obtain your express written consent on the application itself.

You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. To withdraw consent, contact our Privacy Officer. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide certain services or maintain certain coverage.

Commercial email. Every commercial message we send identifies us, includes our mailing address, and provides a working unsubscribe link. You can unsubscribe at any time using that link or by contacting us directly. We will still send you non-commercial messages necessary to service your existing policies.

5. Who we share it with

We disclose personal information only as necessary, and only to:

  • Insurance carriers, managing general agencies, and reinsurers — to obtain quotes, submit applications, underwrite coverage, and administer policies
  • Service providers who perform functions on our behalf, including our customer relationship management platform, email and scheduling tools, website host, and IT providers. These providers are authorized to use your information only for the services they provide to us.
  • Regulators and licensing bodies, including the Alberta Insurance Council, where required
  • Legal and professional advisors, where necessary
  • Others, where you direct us to, or where disclosure is required or permitted by law

6. Storage and processing outside Canada

Some of our service providers store or process personal information outside Canada, primarily in the United States. This includes our advertising, analytics, spam-protection, scheduling, and website hosting tools.

While your information is outside Canada, it is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessible to foreign courts, law enforcement, and government authorities under those laws.

Alberta's PIPA requires that we tell you this and give you a way to ask about it. To ask questions about how your information is handled outside Canada, or about our service providers, contact our Privacy Officer at the address above.

7. Cookies, analytics, and advertising tools

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, measure traffic, and improve performance.

We may use:

  • Website analytics to understand how visitors use our site
  • Google reCAPTCHA to protect our forms from spam and abuse. Your use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
  • Meta (Facebook) Pixel and similar advertising tools to measure the performance of our advertising and show relevant ads to people who have visited our website. These tools may collect information about your visit and share it with the advertising platform.
  • Scheduling and customer relationship management tools that may set cookies when you book a meeting or submit a form

Your choices. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. You can manage advertising preferences directly with the platforms — for Meta, through your Facebook Ad Preferences; for Google, through Google Ad Settings. Disabling cookies may affect how parts of this site function.

8. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected, or as required by law, regulation, and our carrier and licensing obligations. Insurance records are generally retained for a number of years after a policy ends, as required by regulation. Inquiry information from people who do not become clients is retained for a reasonable period and then securely destroyed.

9. How we protect it

We maintain physical, organizational, and technological safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including secured devices and accounts, password protection, encryption where appropriate, restricted access, and secure disposal of records.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. Please do not send sensitive personal or health information by unsecured email. If you need to send us documents, contact us and we will provide a secure method.

10. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request a correction if it is inaccurate or incomplete
  • Withdraw consent, subject to legal and contractual restrictions
  • Ask questions about how we handle your information
  • Make a complaint if you believe we have mishandled it

Submit requests in writing to our Privacy Officer. We will respond within the timeframes required by law. There is generally no charge, though a reasonable fee may apply to certain requests, and we will tell you in advance if so.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact:
