BRETT WACKENHUT

MEET BRETT WACKENHUT

I’m Brett Wackenhut—an independent insurance advisor, business owner, Oilers fan, hockey coach, proud husband and father, and founder of Fusion Insurance Advisory Inc.

I began my financial-services career with a Canadian chartered bank in 2002. In 2008, I founded Fusion Financial Management Inc. because I believed Alberta and British Columbia business owners deserved more personal advice, better service and a long-term relationship with an advisor who genuinely understood them.

Today, that commitment continues through Fusion Insurance Advisory Inc.

After 24 years in financial services—and 18 years building Fusion—I still believe the best advice starts with knowing the people, families and stories behind every business.

WHY I CHOSE INSURANCE

My dad was self-employed. He carried a $1 million term life insurance policy at a time when many business owners weren’t having those conversations.

Thankfully, our family never had to use the policy. But knowing it was there gave us confidence and financial security.

It also taught me an important lesson: insurance isn’t really about the policy itself. It’s about what that policy allows a family or business to do when something unexpected happens.

That experience continues to shape how I advise clients today.

During one of the most difficult moments in someone’s life, I want to be the advisor who shows up, helps the family understand what happens next and makes sure the coverage does what it was intended to do.

That’s why I’m in insurance.

INSIDE THE OFFICE

Fusion is intentionally small by design. We work with a limited number of clients so that every client receives direct access, personal attention and proactive service.

I work with business owners and their families who value straightforward advice, responsive service and long-term relationships. There are no call centres and no unnecessary layers—clients work directly with me.

I provide independent advice in the following areas:

• Group benefits
• Group savings plans
• Personal and corporate life insurance
• Disability insurance
• Critical illness insurance
• Business debt and key-person protection
• Buy-sell agreement funding
• Insurance and wealth strategies for business-owner families

Too many business owners settle for average advice and only hear from their advisor once a year.

I built Fusion to offer something different: proactive service, strategic advice and an advisor who takes the time to understand the business, its employees and the family behind it.

My goal is simple: work with good people, give them great advice and be there when they need me.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE

Outside the office, we’re an active outdoor family that makes the most of Alberta’s summers.

We spend a lot of time at the lake—tubing, fishing and gathering around the campfire roasting s’mores. I’m also the proud owner of a 2002 Chevrolet 1500HD OBS 4×4, which fits in perfectly when I’m visiting clients at their shops, yards and job sites.

During the winter, much of my time is spent at the rink. I’m a hockey coach and board member with SPS Fuzion Female Minor Hockey, and I genuinely love being involved in the game.

There’s something special about watching young athletes build confidence, learn to work as a team and grow both on and off the ice.

MY FAMILY

I’m happily married and the proud father of two amazing daughters. We live in Sherwood Park, Alberta.

We’re teaching our daughters the value of hard work, what it means to be a great teammate and the importance of continuing to challenge themselves.

Comet, our soft-coated Wheaten Terrier, is the latest addition to our family and has quickly become the centre of our home. She’s also my regular office companion and can usually be found sleeping in her bed beside my desk.

After 24 years in financial services, I’m more excited than ever about what we’re building at Fusion—and about continuing to help Alberta and British Columbia business-owner families protect what matters most.
